Kangaroo vine
Kangaroo vine - Cissus antarctica.
This is an unpretentious, actively growing (annual growth can reach 60 cm) evergreen, climbing plant with flexible stems, known to everyone as "indoor birch".
Perfectly suited for indoor conditions. Leaves are 10 cm long, ovoid, serrated, dark green. On one node with a leaf are pubescent tendrils, which cling to supports. Flowers are small, pale green, collected in small-flowered inflorescences.
An indispensable plant in vertical gardening and interior decoration, looks great separately and in groups.
SOWING: in spring in light soil with a neutral reaction (for example: peat with sand). The substrate is moistened and the seeds are evenly distributed over the surface, then covered with glass or film. Beware of direct sunlight on the crops - they can be damaged. Seeds germinate starting from the fourth week after sowing, at a temperature of +21+24°C. Shoots are uneven and can appear both in a month and in 4 months. Crops are regularly sprayed with warm water and ventilated to avoid disease. Picking begins after 2-3 true leaves appear, one at a time in small pots with fertile soil.
The plant does not tolerate direct sunlight. It tolerates partial shade normally, but bright diffused light (eastern or western windows) is best.
CARE: in summer, water 2 times a week, then reduce watering, and in winter during dormancy, moderate watering once every two weeks. Responds well to regular spraying. Feed 2 times a month in summer with mineral and organic fertilizer. Replant in the spring every two to three years, pinch for better tillering. In winter, keep at +7+15°C.
FLOWERING: depends on day length and humidity (mainly in spring and for a short time).
